RLUK_David: @TAC_NISO Most of the science benefits of manned-space flight serious overstate and not value-for-money.
RLUK_David: @TAC_NISO I have nothing against adventuring, but let's not confuse it with science. Manned space-flight is adventure, not science
RLUK_David: @TAC_NISO All real extra-terrestrial scientific data-collection is now done by robots - they are much better at it than humans!

RLUK/SCONUL briefing on the impact of Open Access
RLUK and SCONUL have commissioned from Alma Swan a short briefing on the impact of open access on researchers, universities and society.
The briefing outlines the latest evidence on increased impact for researchers in terms of visibility, usage and citation, together with a description of the benefits for the profile of institutions and the wider economic impact for society. We hope that research administrators and librarians will use the briefing to support the development of institutional polices mandating open access.
