Remit
To develop a communications strategy for the Consortium that addresses both internal and external communication. Unless otherwise indicated, the target date for delivery of these objectives is April 2004.
Smart Objectives
To review the use of mailing lists in order to reduce the volume of email being circulated to the lists, to improve its relevancy and elicit a more timely response to messages that require immediate attention by the Board.
To develop, by mid-March 2004, a business case to re-design the CURL website to achieve greater and more active use of the website and to ensure that the information is relevant and current.
To improve wider communication of CURL activity to a more general audience in CURL institutions, by targeting professional staff below Director level in CURL institutions, and to consider new means of delivering communications, such as a regular value-added digest of news from within and beyond CURL relevant to professional staff.
To put forward proposals to employ the CURL Secretariat more proactively to promote current CURL services to research communities, and to develop closer communication and engagement with all stakeholders.
To develop proposals to ensure that Members' meetings focus on strategic issues or issues important to Membership and that Members are able to engage fully with and contribute actively to the discussions.
To make proposals for ways to improve the reporting mechanisms between the Board and the Task Forces.
