Rights and Responsibilities

Database Use of records from RLUK database	Free	Normally charged at RLUK customer rate, unless mutually agreed otherwise.
Meetings

Working parties and Task Forces Membership	All staff from member libraries eligible to participate in Working Parties and Task Forces	Participation in Working Parties and Task Forces by invitation
Consortial Activities
Consortial deals for record retrieval from RLIN database	Eligible to participate	May be eligible to participate at a rate fixed by the Board
Consortial deals for record retrieval from OCLC database	Eligible to participate	May be eligible to participate subject to terms and conditions negotiated with OCLC
Consortial deals collaborative acquisitions purchases	Eligible to participate	Dependent upon specific agreements with vendors
Consortial fund-raising activities	Eligible to participate	May be eligible by invitation at the discretion of the Board
Consortial project bids	Eligible to participate	May be eligible by invitation at the discretion of the Board

Responsibilities

Database
Contribution of all machine readable catalogue records for inclusion in the database	Must be willing to make catalogue records available for sharing within the RLUK membership, without charge	Not required to contribute, but may do so by mutual agreement
COPAC developments	Must be willing to subscribe to COPAC developments (arising from the JISC/RLUK Heads of Agreement)	Not required to subscribe to COPAC developments but may do so by mutual agreement
Interlending
Intra-RLUK interlending	Must be willing to lend appropriate materials to RLUK members at an agreed consortial rate	Highly desirable to lend materials to RLUK members
Interlending to other HEIs	Must be willing to lend appropriate materials to other HEIs, (in accordance with the JISC/RLUK Heads of Agreement)	Not required to lend to other HEIs but may be encouraged to do so
Commitment to collections	Must have a long-term commitment to the maintenance and preservation of the institution's research collections	A long-term commitment to the maintenance and preservation of the institution's research collections is highly desirable
Support for research	Must be willing to play an active role in the support of research scholarship at national and international levels	A willingness to play an active role in the support of research scholarship at national and international levels is highly desirable
Involvement with other organisations
RLG membership	Must be willing to subscribe to membership of RLG	Membership of RLG not obligatory
Other organisations	Must be committed to support the Consortium in active involvement in those organisations with which RLUK may from time to time corporately agree to cooperate	Should be willing to join in initiatives with other organisations where appropriate
RLUK's strategic initiatives and member activities	Must be committed to support full participation, where appropriate, in the whole range of activities	May participate by invitation
