User FAQ and Troubleshooting
I can't connect to the RLUK Database
Information about interruptions to RLUK services is sent out through the jiscmail email list, rluk-users. If you are not a member of rluk-users see:
http://www.rluk.ac.uk/node/302
for more details about joining.
If you are a member of rluk-users but have received no information about any break in service, and you are sure there is not a network problem at your own site, contact the RLUK Helpdesk:
to report the problem.
Please have the following information available: what command you issued; whether you got any response; if you did, what the message was; and if you got as far as logging in, what userid you were using.
Please also note that the period 07.00 - 10.00 on Tuesday mornings is the UK Joint Academic Network (JANET) "at risk" period, which means that there can be unpredicted breaks in service at this time due to general network maintenance. Normal service should always be resumed by 10.00.

What is record de-duplication and how does it operate?
In the MARC21 database, by default all records matching the search term(s) are displayed to the user. The database can optionally be searched in a de-duplicated form (within technical limits). This de-duplication is performed in real time (i.e., 'on-the-fly') and certain aspects of the de-duplication process can be customised by an institution or customer directly.
Further technical information on the database, including on duplication, can be found at: http://www.rluk.ac.uk/node/465
I require information about accessing and using the MARC21 database
Information is available for access via z39.50 or the web-based interface.
For more information about accessing the MARC21 database via z39.50 see:
http://www.rluk.ac.uk/node/463
I would like to download records in UKMARC - Is this possible?
RLUK no longer runs a separate UKMARC service as such; however, it is possible to allow records to be converted from MARC21 to UKMARC, which can then be batch-downloaded. To discuss this option, please contact:
