Remit and Objectives Remit
- To identify and map existing provision and significant gaps in the information infrastructure, content and services supporting research.
- Recommend priorities and actions that will promote a coherent national approach to research support.
- To explore ways to increase understanding of how the requirements and characteristics of researchers and the research process are changing or might change in the future.
- To recommend to the RLUK Board initiatives to map researcher needs and promote new models for enhancing support for research.
- To support improved models for delivering traditional format materials to researchers and develop new models to support the research process, and identify appropriate skillsets.
Terms of reference (to be finalized)
- To identify existing and potential services to provide support for the research process by creating and maintaining a shared best practice model as a base for awareness raising, skills development and liaison with education and training bodies.
- To engage with LIS and researchers to identify current or new services to provide support for the research process, drawing on the proposed RIN studies and emerging JISC framework.
- To organize appropriate events to facilitate exchange of experience and provide skills development in research support including the emerging e-research area.
- To work with SCONUL, RIN, JISC and other agencies to develop best practice for physical research spaces and virtual research environments.
- To liaise with the e-Research Task Force in identifying staff skills gaps in relation to the e-research agenda and developing models for staff to engage with their local e-research stakeholders and the e-research proposal process.
