The project, which commenced on 01 August 2008, responds to the proposal put forward by Research Libraries UK (RLUK), JISC, and the British Library requesting that work be done to bring together discovery services as seamlessly as possible.
Overall, the aim is to improve the quality of the user experience for UK researchers and students in their attempts to search for and access academic content. In addition, the project hopes to lay the foundations for personalisation of these services.
The Project will deliver:
Authentication and identification mechanisms on Copac and SUNCAT
‘My Local Library’ cross-search facility on Copac
Table of Contents (ToCs) linking from Copac and SUNCAT to Zetoc
‘Scholarly Communications’ website
Scoping of a ‘Scholarly Communications’ portal
Aggregation tools on Copac
Demonstrator allowing Copac users access to inter-library loan services
Broker providing discovery service users with links to final access and delivery services
