RLUK’s Digital Shift Forum brings together colleagues from across the information, research, cultural and heritage communities, and third and commercial sectors, to discuss the future of the digital shift in collections, services, and audiences.
The series aims to promote cross-sector discussion and debate, to enable knowledge exchange, and inspire collaborative endeavour across sectors and communities, for the benefit of RLUK members and the wider research and information management communities.
The Digital Shift Forum is open to all, and you do not need to belong to an RLUK member institution to attend or participate.
Linked data and the research library
Wednesday 30 September, 14:00 – 15:00 (BST, UK), 15:00 – 16:00 (CEST), 16:00 – 17:00 (EEST), 15:00 – 16:00 (SAST), 06:00 – 07:00 (PDT), 09:00 – 10:00 (EDT), 21:00 – 22:00 (AWST/CST)
As research libraries navigate the Digital Shift, linked data offers new possibilities for connecting collections, enhancing discovery, and increasing the visibility of institutional assets within a global knowledge network.
Bringing together strategic and practical perspectives from RLUK members, this session will explore how libraries are engaging with linked data and what this means for metadata creation, management, and discovery.
Through two case studies, speakers will share their experiences of implementing linked data approaches, reflect on the opportunities and challenges encountered along the way, and consider how libraries can position their collections and services within an increasingly interconnected information landscape.
Attendees will gain practical insights into the potential of linked data to enhance discovery, interoperability, and access across the wider research ecosystem.
