RLUK Special Collections Workshop
Planning for Success: Scoping, Accreditation, Designation and Funding
Where: Room 101, Library of Birmingham
When: 30 June 2017
Attendance: This meeting is open to one person per RLUK member institution
This is the fourth in a planned series of five regional workshops exploring some of the major challenge areas identified by RLUK members. Sessions offer delegates an opportunity to learn more about preparing for success by making the most of existing frameworks, including the UK Archive Accreditation Service, Arts Council England’s Designated Status for collections, Wellcome’s tried and tested approach to creating new entry points by scoping uncatalogued collections and current funding opportunities supporting library and archive collections.
Speakers : Paula Brikci from Arts Council England, Chris Hassan from Wellcome, Melinda Haunton and Tina Morton from The National Archives, Fiona Talbott from The Heritage Lottery Fund.
Brief presentations will be followed by a group exercise exploring how external funding fits into the bigger picture for research libraries, in the context of an audience focussed strategy, and asking what steps we can all take to plan and prepare for greater success. Delegates will also have a chance to pitch ideas and questions directly to speakers in a speed surgery session to round up the day.
