We are seeking to recruit a full-time permanent Metadata Analyst to join the Metadata team within the Library’s Digital Scholarship and Innovation Group.

The team manages metadata for collections and research outputs, promotes discoverability and is exploring ways in which metadata can support research, learning and teaching in new ways in a digital environment.  You will develop the provision of computational access to collections metadata to facilitate next generation discovery, support creative re-use and stimulate innovative research. You will make metadata accessible via human and machine-readable formats, and use your knowledge and expertise to train colleagues and embed this new strand of work within the Metadata team.  You will also develop ‘expert user’ knowledge of the systems used to manage research metadata.

You will have excellent IT skills, the ability to transform and manipulate metadata using programming languages and supporting tools, and the aptitude to learn new technologies and software.  You will be able to work to a high standard of accuracy and develop customer-focused solutions to provide computational access.  You will have the ability to explain complex concepts and technologies clearly as well as train and enthuse staff in this developing area of work.  Experience of creating metadata and working with institutional repository platforms is desirable but not essential to the role.
