Research Libraries UK (RLUK) is pleased to announce that on behalf of its members it has joined LIBER, Europe’s largest network of research libraries that represents the interests of over 400 national and university libraries.
RLUK is a consortium of 34 of the most significant research libraries in the UK and Ireland. This formal partnering with LIBER is an integral part of RLUK’s aims of enabling greater synergy and cooperation between its members and institutions across Europe, and to ensure the concerns and priorities of institutions in the UK and Ireland are fully represented in relevant policy discussions taking place at the European level, particularly in regards to scholarly communications issues such as open data and open access.
David Prosser, Executive Director of RLUK, commented: “LIBER is the foremost organisation representing the interests of research libraries within Europe and we are very encouraged by the activity that LIBER has undertaken in engaging with the European Commission. We hope that by joining LIBER we can help to strengthen LIBER in their discussions, but also gain from LIBER’s expertise in this area.”
